Program offers college scholarship

The Distinguished Young Woman's program of Humboldt County, formerly known as Humboldt County's Junior Miss, is accepting applications from high school girls graduating in 2014, according to a press release.

The program will take place on Saturday, March 23 in Scotia at the Winema Theater. Applicants should visit www.DistinguishedYW.org or www.ajm.org. Any high school girls graduating in 2014 are encouraged to participate. There is no entry fee. Applicants will be eligible for more than $4,000 in college scholarship money. The winner will advance to the state program, where she will be eligible for additional scholarship money.
